Frequently Asked Questions

What is Placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation or placentophagy is the practice of ingesting your placenta, it is practiced by 99% of mammals & has been part of Asian medicine for hundreds of years. Placenta encapsulation is a method of preparing your placenta in order for you to consume it in a capsule form. Placenta encapsulation has a long process of rinsing, slicing, dehydrating, grinding and encapsulating; all while practicing safe handling & sanitary conditions.

Why is it beneficial to consume my placenta?

There are a variety of potential benefits to placentophagy, the placenta holds many vitamins and minerals that are rich in iron and protein, which may be useful to women who are recovering from childbirth. Mothers have reported that it helps with postpartum depression, postpartum bleeding, faster recovery time, decreasing iron deficiency, decreasing insomnia, balancing of hormones, increase milk production and energy.
You may go here to read more about all the helpful benefits of placentophagy:  BENEFITS HERE

How is my placenta prepared?

Your raw placenta is rinsed, sliced & placed in the dehydrator.
It is then dehydrated at 160 degrees for 12+ hours depending on the size of your placenta. Once the dehydrating is complete your placenta is ground up into a fine powder and placed into edible capsules.

Can I still encapsulate my placenta if I am GBS+?

Yes. You can still encapsulate your placenta if you are positive for Group B Strep, this is a variation of normal. Here in the US pregnant mothers are routinely screened for GBS where as pregnant mothers in the UK are not and placenta encapsulation is provided there as well.

Travel Fees, how do I know if there is a travel fee attached to my placenta service?

The cost for placenta service are located on the website HERE but sometimes there is a travel fee attached to that cost of service for cities 15 miles or more outside the city of Corona. For the exact price on a travel fee please contact your specialist HERE.

How do I know if I am getting my own placenta?

I work with one placenta at a time, start to finish; each placenta usually comes in a container & that container is always checked for identification, if no identification is on the container then it will be written on with the correct info before it is properly stored. If there are multiple placentas while one placenta is being prepared then the others will wait in a special fridge dedicated to placentas only.

What sanitary practices are used in preparing my placenta?

First, I will ONLY work with ONE placenta at a time, from start to finish; every placenta I work with is confirmed STD negative and free of infection.
Constant hand washing, hand sanitizing and new gloves are used multiple times during the entire process.
Prior to working on your placenta I sanitize my entire workspace with a hospital grade solution called Cavicide, this solution is generously sprayed and then allowed to sanitize for 5+ minutes before it is wiped clean. All my tools/trays/supplies are cleaned with soap and hot water, using a new sponge every time to avoid cross contamination; all tools/trays/supplies are then placed in a strong bleach solution bath for sanitizing purposes up to 1-8 hours and vigorously rinsed once sanitized.

How do I maintain my placenta after delivery?

When you deliver your placenta, it has about 4 hours outside your womb before it starts to spoil.
It is imperative that you place your placenta immediately in a plastic bag (1 gallon Ziploc or hospital biohazard bag) or plastic container (hospital should provide either or); then place your bagged/contained placenta in an ice cooler and sandwiched between ice. (Hospital will provide ice ie. ice machines)
Or
you may immediately place your placenta in a bag/container and then put it in a fridge or freezer until I come to retrieve your placenta.

If you are picking up my placenta, when do you arrive?

Once you have delivered your placenta, properly (see above) contained your placenta, and your placenta is available for pick up; please call/text me.
After I receive the call that your placenta is ready for pick up during my working hours, I will be there usually within 4 hours. I will text you an ETA and then contact you when I arrive. I will collect your placenta curbside main entrance.
Some hospitals place a "hold" on your placenta for either 24 hours or until the time you are released from the hospital. If that is the case then we can figure out the best day, time and location for pick up. (Usually your home)

When do I receive my placenta capsules?

From the moment your placenta is received in my hands to the time your placenta capsules are given into your hands it's about 72 hours depending upon arrangement, thaw time, multiple placentas, holidays etc.
Servicing the following areas:
Orange County, Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County & Riverside County.
